Air Academy secured back-to-back Class 5A girls team titles, placing five athletes in the top eight to eclipse the record for the lowest score in classification history with 26 points at the Colorado High School Activities Association Cross Country Championships at Norris Penrose Event Center in Colorado Springs. Tessa Walter placed second for the Kadets, covering the 5-kilometer layout in 17:46.1, with freshman Mariah Hook taking third in 17:50.9, senior Bethany Michalak securing sixth in 17:59.0, freshman Chamorra Cooper capturing seventh in 18:00.9, Emily Beers earning eighth in 18:06.8, Lauren Myers achieving 24th in 18:57.4 and Jordan Banta grabbing 28th in 19:05.6 for the Kadets, who took down the 2007 classification record of 28 points produced by Dakota Ridge. Air Academy also ran the fastest team time in Class 5A history by clocking 89:44.
